Mergers and acquisitions create both challenges and opportunities for financial institutions. Communicating the merger as advantageous for present and future customers is vital. When FirstBank merged with Franklin Synergy Bank, Hip Brand helped them launch merger communications that aligned constituents, resources and messaging so that the FirstBank brand would emerge stronger than ever.


Since a bank’s associates and customers are the most important audiences during a merger, we created communications and campaigns designed to get local pride on a roll. Merger welcome books and customer handouts were delivered to each Franklin Synergy location. The customers and communities in the Franklin Synergy footprint were introduced to FirstBank with a Tailgate Fridays Food Truck Tour & Giveaway. Social fans from both banks even got in on the action with a Fall Gameday TV Giveaway to increase the theme’s impact and reach.


As Franklin Synergy was welcomed into the FirstBank family, it was a smooth transition. From direct mail and email to online and in branch resources, Franklin Synergy customers were communicated with every step of the way. This helped to ensure that by becoming One Team. One Bank., they weren’t losing anything, but gaining a new local bank family while keeping the same relationships they had banked on for years.
